Madison man found guilty in toddler's sex assault and homicide

MADISON (WKOW) -- A jury returned guilty verdicts on all 18 charges against a Madison man related to a toddler's April 2022 sex assault and homicide, according to court records.

Investigators said Marshawn Giles, 25, physically and sexually assaulted the child at a Schroeder Road apartment on Madison's west side before she died at the hospital.

Some of the 18 charges stemmed from abuse of two other children in the home. Others involved abuse toward the toddler’s mother at the hands of Giles.

Court records show the jury took less than two hours to deliberate. The trial lasted four days.

Giles will be sentenced at a later date.
