SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Somerville's PorchFest returns this weekend, and will bring hundreds of bands and thousands of music lovers to the city's tightly packed streets.
With so many options of who to see, at numerous locations and times, local developer Tim Sakharov said going in without a plan "can still be a lot of fun but it can also be overwhelming." But he was dissatisfied with the map of all the acts playing.
"And I thought, 'well, why not just build it,'" Sakharov said.
He created viewporchfest.com, a site with an interactive map that lets users search for specific bands and addresses, sort by genre, and slide a scale to see who is playing where in a certain time frame.
"I wanted to make sure that you can kind of easily sort and filter all of these different options," Sakharov said.
The map also includes a tie in with an app he co-developed called Atmosphere, which shows people fun places to eat or hang out after shows.
PorchFest 2026 will be held rain or shine on Saturday, May 9 from noon to 6 p.m.
