Authorities have issued evacuation orders for the Sandy Fire in Simi Valley, which is threatening several neighborhoods.

The fire has already scorched over 720 acres and continues to spread due to dry conditions and strong winds. Evacuation orders are in place for residents living near the affected areas.

The evacuation orders affect residents in the vicinity of Tapo Canyon Road, Erringer Road, and Los Angeles Avenue. The fire is currently threatening numerous structures, and firefighters are working tirelessly to contain the blaze. According to the Simi Valley Police Department, residents in the evacuation zones should leave immediately and seek shelter at designated evacuation centers.

Ventura County Fire spokesperson Andy VanSciver emphasized the importance of being prepared during wildfire season. "Evacuations can happen at any moment," he said, urging residents to have a go-bag ready with essential items such as food, water, medications, and important documents.

The Sandy Fire is one of several wildfires that have erupted in California this year. As of late April, nearly 1,000 wildfires have been reported across the state, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). The agency continues to monitor the situation and provide updates on the status of the fire and any additional evacuation orders.

Residents are advised to stay informed through local news outlets and official channels such as the Simi Valley Emergency Information website.
