KENT COUNTY, Mich. -- Autism Support of Kent County's annual walk is set to take place on Sunday (May 17) to raise awareness and funds for individuals with autism. The event will be held at the Special Olympics building on 68th Street SW in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The organization, which offers various programs and support for those with autism and their families, relies on donations and the annual walk to fund its operations, with a goal of raising $50,000.
The event will feature a resource fair, arts and crafts, games, music, giveaways, and food, and is open to all community members. According to WOOD TV, the walk is a significant fundraiser for Autism Support of Kent County, which is fully funded by donations. Executive Director Jeannette Mitchell emphasized the importance of the event in supporting the group's annual budget.
As of now, the organization has raised $26,390, which is 52% of their goal. The event will also include a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.
