SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A non-profit on the North Shore recently wrapped up its first-ever "twelve days of giving."

Big Blue Bargains is a non-profit thrift store that opened in 2012. They closed during the pandemic in 2020 and reopened in a new location in February of this year. Board member Katie Kirleis says they're celebrating the end of this year with 12 days of giving.

"12 days of giving is all about spreading cheer close to home by supporting local organizations and community members in need and also partnering with our town's small businesses and saying a big thank you to those who serve our town every day," Kirleis said.

The Swampscott-based non-profit has donated more than $22,000 to the community since reopening in February. They recently bought meals for Department of Public Works employees.

"So we set them up with Lincoln's landing, a small restaurant in town. They went in, ordered, you know, whatever they wanted and we paid the cost for them to have a meal on us that day. We just want to really make them feel like they're appreciated and we do appreciate them," Kirleis said

This month, they've also provided meals for members of the police department, the fire department, as well as providing support for local organizations — something different every day for 12 days.
