BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Wednesday marks another sign in the baseball world that spring is coming.
Pitchers and catchers start workouts on Wednesday at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Fla., as the Boston Red Sox begin Spring Training. The rest of the team still has some time to prepare before the first full team workout on Monday, Feb. 17.
WBZ NewsRadio’s Chris Fama asked fans how well they expect the team to do this year. Given the past few lackluster seasons, their answers were all over the place.
“I think they can make the playoffs, but they aren’t going to the World Series,” said one fan.
“Sports brings everyone together and it’s fun to watch,” said another fan. “They always have a chance.”
“I think they’re all being paid too much money and they’re all overweight,” said one man.
“I don’t know anything about baseball, [but] I can’t wait. Get me to April,” said another man, who was sick of the snow.
The Red Sox first Spring Training game takes place at Jet Blue Park at 1:05 p.m. on Feb. 21.
