BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The weather on Thursday was lousy, a perfect day for ICycle 2025.

Non-profit HomeStart was running its annual outdoor winter cycling fundraiser in support of ending homelessness in Greater Boston.

More than 300 riders along with spin instructors gathered at The Rocks at Harbor Way in Boston Seaport on a cloudy, drizzly, cold winter day.

Even though the cyclists were under a cover, it was not ideal conditions for outdoor activities.

HomeStart Executive Director Matt Pritchard said being uncomfortable in the bad weather helped underscore the challenges the homeless face. "The purpose of ICycle is to bring awareness and share solidarity with our neighbors who are living on the streets," Pritchard said.

The event's goal this year was to raise $500,000.

Pritchard said even though the cyclists were peddling for a limited time while out in the cold, it was enough time for people to experience what the homeless go through. "The reality is that there are hundreds of folks right now today who are going to go to sleep outside," he said.

HomeStart has helped more than 7,000 people stay in their homes and get off the streets over the past 30 years.
