PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Demolition days are here for a dilapidated popular seafood destination on the South Shore.
For many decades Berts Landing in Plymouth was synonymous with family dinners, good times and forever memories. But since its closure more than 10 years ago, it has become known as an eyesore. After many complaints, residents say they are looking forward to saying goodbye to what was.
"It's good to see it being redeveloped and used for something," one local said.
"Anxious to see a new leaf on this property and new use for it," another local said.
After years of ownership changes, environmental concerns and a debate on what to do next, the future of what's to come is still up in the air. For now, some people here are remembering the good times.

"I remember the parties we used to have," one resident said.
While some residents are celebrating, other say they are mourning what was. For them it's been one long, painful goodbye to a restaurant that sat empty for 13 years.
"It's heartbreaking," one woman said.
As the city decides what happens next, locals are embracing the future.
"Change comes and hopefully it's a change for the better," one man said.
"It's a new start and I think it's exciting for the neighborhood," another person said.
