BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — One of the most popular finds in Boston is almost one of the smallest.
Tucked away in the children's section of Beacon Hill Books & Cafe on Charles Street is an Inciardi Mini Print Vending Machine. The machine dispenses tiny, handmade art for just four quarters.
"Ten different prints in there, including some prints that are custom to our store, including our storefront, a Persephone book, and Peter Rabbit," store COO Irene MacDonald told WBZ NewsRadio Friday.
Printmaker Anastasia Inciardi launched her first miniature print machine in 2022. The machines became a social media sensation, and more than two years later, they can be found in more than 35 locations nationwide, including one at Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art.
"It’s incredible to see people come in with a roll, like ten dollars worth of quarters, and they will go through it," MacDonald said. "We’ve had people come in with more than that."
According to MacDonald, the machine is so popular, the store is currently sold out of prints, but they are hoping for more to arrive in the next week.
"It adds a little bit of joy to your day," said MacDonald. "What can you get for a dollar these days?"
