BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) —MBTA is giving a sneak peek of the next generation Green Line trains on City Hall Plaza, and they want your feedback.
“I am very excited about these trains. I am a bit of a transit enthusiast,” one visitor at the display told WBZ NewsRadio.
A full-scale mockup of the new train cars, called Type 10, features a modern exterior, a design chosen by the public, and matt green plastic seats. Double in size, the new fleet can hold twice amount of passengers compared to current trollies and will be 100 percent low-floor that includes bridge plates for wheelchair accessibility.
A local rider said the stairs on the current trollies make standing quite "awkward" and is very happy about this change.

A common complaint about the Type 10 cars is the narrow width and lack of seat space, but “I would take slightly awkward seats as a tradeoff for the improved capacity and accessibility,” another visitor said.
The Green Line is MBTA’s oldest subway line, serving hundred thousands of passenger on a daily basis.
According to Senior Director of Vehicle Engineering Bill Wolfgang, the plan is to pilot the first four Type 10 vehicles in passenger service by 2027, with a total of 102 cars in service by 2031.
The Green Line Type 10 exhibit will be at Boston City Hall Plaza on Oct. 29 and 30. MBTA staff will be on site to hear your feedback and answer questions.
