BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade will be happening on Sunday, March 16 at 11:30 a.m., and the MBTA have laid out its route and some traffic guidelines for the day.

The parade will start at Broadway Station, move to West Broadway, continue towards East Broadway, turn right onto P Street, right onto East 4th Street, left onto K Street, right onto East 5th Street, left on G Street, stays left at South Boston High School, continues onto Thomas Park, turns left on Dorchester Street, and ends at Andrew Square.

The Edgerley Family South Boston Club’s St. Patrick’s Day 5K Road Race will also be held on Sunday starting at 9:30 a.m.

The race will begin at South Boston Boys and Girls Club, proceed from to West 6th Street to Dorchester Street onto East Broadway. Then it will go all the way to the Farragut Statue across Farragut Road at Day Blvd. It will then wrap around back to East Broadway, continue across L Street to West Broadway, turn left onto E Street and turn left again back to West 6th, finishing back at the Boys and Girls Club.

The MBTA encourages people to walk, bike, or take public transportation. The Red Line will be running rush hour service from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. that day. Complimentary shuttles will also be provided from South Station, according to the MBTA.

Officials will begin enforcing parking restrictions in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Due to parking restrictions and street closures that day, the MBTA recommends that those who are driving park at an MBTA station and use a subway or the Commuter Rail. Daily parking fees are $2-$15.

Residents with a South Boston parking permit will be able to park at the Marine Park Garage at 12 Drydock Ave for a reduced price from 6pm on Saturday to 8pm on Sunday.
