Bryan County Sheriff's Office investigates drowning

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - The Bryan County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) is investigating a drowning that occurred in the Tivoli River.

BCSO said that deputies were dispatched to the Tivoli Bridge in reference to an individual who could not swim but had entered into the water.

The Bryan County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Diving Team was deployed and retrieved Carlito Lindsey, 26. Lindsey was from Mississippi, but was an active military member stationed at Fort Stewart in Georgia.

The BCSO said that their investigation into the drowning revealed that Lindsey and four other men were crab fishing. Lindsey had gone into the water to retrieve a trap and was caught in the sweeping current, according to the BCSO.
