Boston (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hundreds of spinners spent their morning riding to raise money for cancer research at Fenway Park Saturday.

Around 800 people signed up for the 10th annual Winter Pan Mass Challenge to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Pan Mass hosted five sessions with 200 riders in each.

26 of them signed up to ride in all five classes. “We call them extreme riders,” Jarett Collins, PMC CEO, told WBZ NewsRadio.

Ashley is one of them and said she is riding for those who don’t have the ability to exercise like this.

"Personally I have been one of those people," she said. "Now I stand here today with my best friend Kristen doing all five rides."

Despite the snowy weather outside the stadium, the energy inside these classes not only warms up the body but also the soul knowing they are contributing to a good cause.

“This is a really big opportunity to sort of feel like you’re like doing some good,” Collins said. “And to provide hope to many more people.”

He added they hope to raise one billion dollars for the research institute with 100% of the proceed from Saturday’s event going towards that goal.

“The research they do, the treatments they develop are being used worldwide, but to be so lucky to have had my child to be able to be treated there, I just feel so lucky every day,” Kelly said.
