BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Boston photography studio is putting paws front and center.
Susan Symonds has been photographing families for decades alongside her wife Annie Landry. After Symonds found out she had ovarian cancer, they decided to start a new chapter and create Fur Baby Pet Studio.
“We decided that our mission is to really do work that matters, taking our fine art skills of photographing humans and parlaying that to photographing dogs,” said Symonds.

Across Fur Baby Pet Studio, there are portraits of pets that look like they belong in a museum. While the animals are neither the best at sitting still, nor are they always able to follow directions, Symonds said it's all part of what makes people love their pets.
“What I want to do is capture a bit of their personality. I want parents to look at it and say,” Oh, that’s my baby,’” said Symonds.
Most pets have a shorter life expectancy than their owners, so Symonds helps give them a permanent memory.
“We all know that our pets are with us for such a short time and in this way, we’re creating portraiture that will last for decades,” said Symonds.
