BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston hosted an annual college football game this Saturday in an atypical location.

The game in question was the Wasabi Fenway Bowl, one of three annual football games hosted in baseball stadiums.

The other two games in this category are the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl, which is played in New York's Yankee Stadium and the Rate Bowl, which is played in Arizona's Chase Field.

The UNC Tar Heels and the UConn Huskies were the two teams battling it out this year and fans of both schools’ teams flocked to Boston’s baseball stadium to watch.

Many people shared their excitement for the game and their interest in the novel location.

“We have two football teams playing in a baseball park and the football teams have great basketball schools, so there you go,” UNC fan Wallace said.

“Oh, it’s gonna be incredible,” another fan said. “It’s my dad’s first time at Fenway and its wild that it’s for a football game, but I have no idea how they’re going to fit the field in there."

Some UNC fans had thoughts about Bill Belichick’s debut as head coach of their football team.

“We don't know,” UNC fan Amy said. “Everyone's like ‘we'll see’…it could be the best thing ever, you never know, he might actually transition them into this new age of college football.”

UConn won the game with a score of 27-14.
