BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An overnight snowstorm mixed with post-holiday travel has created chaotic scenes at airports across the U.S., including at Boston's Logan Airport.
Several flight delays and cancellations were already on board Saturday morning after Boston saw more than two inches of snow overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
“We don’t get snow like this at home, so this is a first for me, I think,” one traveler taking off at Logan told WBZ NewsRadio.
Worcester saw around 2.8 inches while Fitchburg got plowed with nearly five inches of snow.
Another traveler heading back home to Los Angeles, Calif. also said it was nice to see some fresh powder before jetting off.
“It was very nice to have a White Christmas,” he said. “It was very cold for us.”
Meanwhile, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is reminding air travelers to pack some extra patience while going through security as agents are bracing for a busy end-of-year travel rush.
The agency is predicting to screen nearly 44.3 million passengers between Dec. 19 – Jan. 4, with the heaviest travel volume expected on Sunday, Dec. 28.
This time last year, TSA screened nearly three million travelers.
“You know you just kind of have to roll with it, take your time, and… get through it,” that Californian visitor added/.
