Bostonians React To More Construction Tapped For Fenway Park Area

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Residents near Fenway Park have been no strangers to construction, but there are no signs of stopping.

The Fenway Sports Group has unveiled plans to move forward with a new 250,000-square-foot development where the parking garage sits on Lansdowne Street. It will serve as a home for the new Red Sox corporate offices and a place where other companies can lease space.

Tom said he lives in a condo on Boylston Street and is not exactly thrilled at the idea of more construction.

“Oh, I’ve been thinking about it for a while. I’ve just seen enough construction,” said Tom.

Sarah said she works in the neighborhood and is fine with it.

“That’s every big city, though,” said Sarah. “Infrastructure and new buildings, that’s just the way it is.”

Others in the area seemed mainly positive about the prospects of a massive development project, even if it means more construction.

“It’ll be tough, but I think it will play off in the long run,” said one man.

“It’s going to be great. It’s going to create jobs and opportunities for people,” said another man.
