BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — If there's anything in the dead of winter that can get New Englanders dreaming of warmer weather to come, it's the annual New England Boat Show.
More than 500 boats are on display at the Thomas Michael Menino Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, now through Jan. 11.
The show that is now in its 70th year features the very latest boats and marine equipment.
Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll helped cut the ribbon at the show's opening ceremony on Wednesday.
More than 38,000 visitors are expected this year, and that can mean big business for the more than 300 exhibitors at the show.
Jason Wylie of Irwin Marine in New Hampshire is one of the exhibitors. "We get a lot of people that come to the show," he said. "It's a great place to look at different brands, different models."
And while boats are the big-ticket items, there's also a lot of money spent on accessories. "I got some posters last year, $200 dollars," said one of the show's visitors. "We're going to get some new stuff. Some jewelry down here too that we're definitely going to look at."
