A wayward SpaceX rocket has slammed into the moon. Scientists say the leftover upper stage of a Falcon Rocket, which had been drifting in space for more than a year crashed into the moon at a speed of 5400 miles per hour. The crash was not easily detectable but a powerful telescope in Chile captured a plume of debris, confirming the collision. SpaceX says the crash was accidental and it's working with NASA to prevent similar incidents as traffic around the moon continues to increase. NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter will fly over the crash site and will send back photos of the new crater caused by the impact, but that isn't expected to happen until next week.
