South Florida Closures And Services Affected by Juneteenth

FLORIDA - South Florida residents may encounter changes to government services, mail delivery, banking operations, and public offices as Juneteenth is observed as a federal holiday across the United States.

Juneteenth, celebrated annually on June 19th, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is recognized as a federal holiday.

As a result, many government offices and public services throughout South Florida will operate on modified schedules or remain closed for the day.

Federal offices, including Social Security Administration locations, federal courthouses, and many government agencies, are expected to be closed in observance of the holiday. United States Postal Service offices will also be closed, and regular mail delivery will not take place.

However, private shipping companies may continue operations depending on location and service type.

Most major banks are scheduled to close for the holiday, which may affect in person transactions.

Online banking services and ATMs are expected to remain available. Residents are encouraged to check directly with their financial institutions for specific operating hours.

Many county and municipal offices throughout Miami Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties will either close or operate on adjusted schedules.

Some public libraries, administrative buildings, and local government services may also be unavailable.

Public transportation systems are generally expected to continue operating, although some routes and schedules could vary by agency.

Essential services, including police, fire rescue, emergency medical response, and hospitals, will continue normal operations.

Retail stores, restaurants, grocery stores, and entertainment venues are largely expected to remain open, though individual business hours may differ.

Officials encourage residents to verify operating hours before visiting government offices or conducting business on Juneteenth.
