Flash Flood Warning; Vehicle Swept Away; Power Out for Thousands

The rain and storms have returned to San Antonio, with a Flash Flood Warning in effect until 10:45am. A Flood Watch will be in effect from Sunday night through Tuesday across South Central Texas.
The National Weather Service says that some parts of the San Antonio area could see as many as eight inches of rain by the time this event is over. The best chance of this heavy rain is forecast to come between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.

The weather has thousands of CPS customers in the dark. As many as 10,000 customers were impacted. You can track the outages HERE.

The weather has led to closures at several school districts holding summer classes:

  • Boerne ISD
  • Harlandale ISD (delayed start)

Multiple roads throughout the area remain closed as heavy rainfall continues to flood low-water crossings.

  • Bitters Road
  • Blakeley
  • Cave Lane
  • Contour Drive
  • Danville
  • East Castle Lane near Zornia Drive
  • El Cerrito South of Sunway
  • Haby Lane East of Hwy 16
  • Heurmann Road near Babcock Road
  • Huntress Lane, West of Scenic Loop
  • Old Blanco Road near Salado Creek Greenway North Park Trail
  • Old Fredericksburg Road at County Line

Emergency crews in the Bandera area continue to search this morning for a vehicle that was swept away by floodwaters. This occurred before 5am. Officials say the vehicle was carried through the area before coming to a stop in floodwaters near Broad Oak Road. Dispatchers later lost contact with the driver, and that person has still not been found.
