Akon Reveals He Has Multiple Wives, Practices Polyamory: Watch

Akon is no longer a "lonely" man.

The "Lonely" singer revealed in a new interview that he is married to multiple women who all live and work together in one home.

When asked about how many wives he has on an episode of the We Need to Talk podcast, the musician coyly replied, "I'll just leave that to your imagination."

The "Smack That" crooner explained that there's a hierarchy within the practice of polyamory in his household, confirming that he does not allow his wives to have other partners.

"Nobody violates wife No. 1," he also said of how his wives must respect his first wife. "The moment they violate, they're out the door. She's the queen." Notably, he did not specify whether that referred to Tomeka Thiam, who filed for divorce from the artist last September after nearly 30 years of marriage.

Despite his wives not being allowed to have other male partners, Akon shared that he believes there are benefits for them. "Often times when the family is united in that way, the benefit is more for the woman than it is for the man," he explained. "He has to treat them all equally, and their responsibility bears on him as well."
