Ohio has reportedly been looking a bit “squatchy” in March. Eight bigfoot sightings were reported in and around Portage and Trumbull counties over just five days earlier this month, which is the most concentrated burst of activity since a famous 1978 wave of reports near Minerva, Ohio. The first encounter on March 6 happened in broad daylight, with a witness claiming to have locked eyes with a nine-foot creature from 120 yards away before it silently moved off into the trees. A nighttime sighting the following evening ended with what the witness described as a deep grunt that "vibrated through the trees."
Subsequent reports include a woman watching a seven-foot, reddish-brown creature sprint past her window for 30 seconds, a driver nearly close enough to reach out and touch one, and a German shepherd left visibly shaking after something walked through its owner's yard. The Bigfoot Society podcast, which is tracking the sightings, noted that even believers acknowledge most encounters can be explained by bears, hikers, or optical illusions.
