I rarely post posthumous birthdays, but today I am making an exemption for someone I have been honored to interview on several occassion and who I worked with on a Make A Wish promotion as well as other radio events.
Michael Hitchence of INXS was one of the sweetest, most accomodating, and generous artists that I have ever met. My interviews with him were personal, unrestrained, and from the heart. When he (along with the rest of the band), met a young man who we brought through the Make A Wish Foundation who had terminal cancer to meet them he took the young man from us and brought him into the dressing room and proceeded to go far beyond a handshake meet and greet. The young man had the experience of his young, and sadly, short lifetime. I will never forget that.
RIP Michael Hutchence, who would have been 66 today.
