DeSantis To Call For Redistricting Special Session
(Tallahassee, FL) --The Florida Legislature could meet this year to redraw congressional districts. Governor Ron DeSantis plans to call a special session in April.However, he's waiting on a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that he says, "will affect the validity of some of these districts nationwide," including the state of Florida. DeSantis wants to address "malapportioned" districts.
Anti-ICE Protest Held In Orlando
(Orlando, FL) --There's outrage in Orlando, Jacksonville Miami over a deadly shooting in Minnesota. An anti-ICE protest was held yesterday outside Orlando City Hall. It occurred hours after a woman was shot to death by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. About 40 people attended the protest. One man tells Channel 9 he was incredibly shocked and disgusted by what happened.In Miami, about a dozen people protested last night at the Torch of Friendship. One woman says there's blood on the hands of the Trump administration and all the ICE agents terrorizing our communities.
Man Arrested For Attacking Uber Driver
(Hollywood, FL) --A man is in custody for allegedly attacking an Uber driver. Isaiah Norton was arrested Friday for battery and resisting an officer. According to court documents, he beat his 61-year-old Uber driver on a ride to Miami International Airport. Prosecutors say it was caught on video. Uber says it's deeply disturbed by this senseless attack.
