Human remains discovered in Berks County have been identified as Travelle Martin, a man reported missing nearly a year ago. The remains were found on December 28 in the Flying Hills section of Cumru Township, Pennsylvania. Martin, 26, was last seen on January 2, 2025, fleeing from his girlfriend's residence following an alleged domestic assault. Police had issued an arrest warrant for Martin on charges of simple assault and robbery, related to the alleged theft of the woman's cellphone.
The Berks County coroner’s office confirmed the identity of the remains through forensic examination by odontologist Tammy Balatgek and pathologist Dr. Neil Hoffman. A forensic autopsy is scheduled for Friday (January 9), after which the remains will be sent for further examination by a forensic anthropologist.
The discovery site, approximately 20 yards off a golf cart path in a wooded area, had been searched multiple times by law enforcement and volunteers, including a U.S. Marshals task force. Cumru Police Chief Madison Winchester noted the proximity of the site to where Martin was last seen.
According to the Reading Eagle, the remains are not believed to be connected to another case of unidentified remains found in Cumru Township in April 2025. The investigation into Martin's death is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact Cumru police or county detectives.
