1 White House Discussing Options To Acquire Greenland, Including Force
The White House said yesterday that officials are discussing a wide range of options for acquiring Greenland from Denmark, including using the U.S. military to take it by force. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that senior administration officials are looking at several approaches, such as buying the territory, forming a compact of free association, or military action. "The president and his team are discussing a range of options to pursue this important foreign policy goal, and of course, utilizing the U.S. military is always an option at the commander in chief's disposal," Leavitt said. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen warned that an American military move to seize Greenland would effectively end the NATO alliance.
2 France And UK Commit To Deploy Troops To Ukraine If Ceasefire Is Declared
France and the United Kingdom signed an agreement yesterday to deploy troops to Ukraine if a ceasefire with Russia is reached. British and French forces would set up "military hubs" across Ukraine to help the country maintain its defenses. The signing happened at a security summit in Paris attended by Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, French President Macron, UK Prime Minister Starmer, and Trump advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Germany could deploy forces to neighboring NATO territory but isn't ruling anything out. Russia has repeatedly said it won't accept NATO troops in Ukraine after any peace deal.
3 Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz Says State Is "Under Attack" By Trump Administration
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz lashed out at the Trump administration yesterday, claiming the state is "under attack" amid a surge of federal agents to the Twin Cities area. As many as 2-thousand Department of Homeland Security agents are involved in a 30-day crackdown targeting immigration enforcement and fraud investigations. Walz called it a "ridiculous surge" and a "show" for cameras that wasn't coordinated with the state. The comments came a day after Walz announced he won't seek reelection. President Trump claimed on social media that Walz was "caught, REDHANDED" stealing taxpayer money, without providing evidence. Walz said he has no plans to resign early.
