Los Angeles Recovers From Historically Devastating Wildfires

For the January 7th 2026 anniversary of the LA Wildfires (Palisades & Eaton Fires), events include large benefit concerts in Pasadena and community remembrance services with music and prayer in Pacific Palisades, plus healing gatherings, memorial events with flag ceremonies, and survivor-led press conferences focusing on recovery, featuring numerous artists and local officials across these areas. 

Events include vigils, concerts, art exhibitions, and panel discussions, focusing on remembrance, healing, and community resilience. 

Wednesday, January 7, 2026 

  • White Glove Flag Presentation and Remembrance Ceremony:  
  • The Pacific Palisades Long Term Recovery Group and American Legion Post 283 are hosting a ceremony from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Palisades American Legion Post 283. The event will honor the 12 lives lost, recognize first responders, and feature a flag presentation and an honor procession to the Village Green. The public is invited to gather on La Cruz Drive to view a livestream of the private formal program. 

 

"They Let Us Burn" Demonstration: A demonstration demanding accountability from city and state officials regarding fire prevention and response is planned in the Pacific Palisades. Where: Antioch/Swarthmore to Via De La Paz @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm (PST). Free T-shirts to the first 500 attendees. Speakers include TV personality Heidi Montag — who lost the home she shared with husband Spencer Pratt in the fire — and former Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, according to organizers.  

 

  • A Day of Remembrance and Renewal at Lake Shrine: Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine is opening its gardens from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for silent reflection and an opportunity for guests to share memories and offer flowers in honor of the memory of those lost. The day is open to all community members and no reservations are required. 

 

  • Malibu Fire Remembrance – A Healing Moment 
    • Time: Formal program 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.; reception to follow. 
    • Location: Malibu City Hall, 23825 Stuart Ranch Road, Malibu. The formal program will be livestreamed on the city's YouTube channel. 
    • Details: Includes a Chumash blessing, moment of silence, and a remembrance poem. 

 

  • A Concert for Altadena (Benefit Concert) 
    • Time: Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; concert starts at 6:30 p.m.. 
    • Location: Pasadena Civic Auditorium, 300 E. Green St., Pasadena. 
    • Details: A star-studded lineup of artists including Dawes & Friends, Brad Paisley, Brandon Flowers, Mandy Moore, and more, hosted by John C. Reilly. Proceeds go to the Altadena Builds Back Foundation. 
  • Community Led Night (Remembrance and Hope) 
    • Time: 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.. 
    • Location: Fairoaks Burger, 2560 Fair Oaks Ave, Altadena, CA 91001. 
  • House Museum: One-Year Fire Anniversary Event 
    • Time: 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.. 
    • Location: House Museum Chimney Yard (shuttle leaves from 333 Los Liones Drive, Pacific Palisades). 
    • Details: Free event, RSVP required. 
  • Community Prayer Services and Concerts of Remembrance, Healing and Renewal 
    • Time: Prayer service at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.; Concert at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.. 
    • Location: St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 1031 Bienveneda Ave., Pacific Palisades. 
    • Details: Features a Grammy-winning violinist and members of the LA Master Chorale. 

 

  • Concerts of Remembrance (Jan 7): St. Matthew's Chapel in Pacific Palisades hosts two concerts with violinist Anne Akiko Meyers and the LA Master Chorale for healing and reflection. 
  • Healing Gatherings (Jan 4 & 10): Online and in-person events offer support, meditation, and community for those grieving the fires. 
  • Palisades Events (Jan 7): A private remembrance program for families of the deceased at the American Legion, followed by a public flag ceremony, wreath-laying, and procession to the Village Green. 
  • Survivor-Led Press Conference (Jan 7): The Eaton Fire Survivors Network holds a press conference detailing recovery needs and funding.
