My Epic Weekend In Pictures: Great Way To Start The New Year!

This was definitely a fun weekend! Even though I worked Friday, we'll start my Weekend In pictures with New Year's Eve. Wednesday night Girlfriend Brooks and I went to celebrate Irish New Year's at The Irish Cottage Inn in Franklin. I've been doing this for probably 7 or 8 years. I never knew growing up that in Ireland, their New Year happens at 7pm our time! Talk about a New Year's tradition that we can all easily stay awake for and celebrate. At 7pm we do a champagne toast after we count down to the New Year. It was funny. My besties all noticed that their phones all switched over to 7pm, right when the countdown clock on TV was almost 2 minutes away from the New Year. I explained to them that this was because we were watching a stream on TV, whenever you watch TV or listen to the radio online, there's always going to be a 90 second delay or so. My besties were interested in that little nerdy tidbit I was able to give them.

After ringing in the 7pm Irish New Year, Girlfriend Brooks and I then ventured over to Work Wife Bestie Shawn's home in Vernon where she was throwing a fun New Year's Eve Party. Shawn was going with a Mexican food theme, which made Brooks very happy. We had so much fun getting to hang out with everyone. After the party, one of my major goals was accomplished: we got home at 10pm on the dot! I was so happy to be off the roads and safe on New Year's Eve, once reclined on my couch there was such a strong feeling of relief and relaxation. Brooks and I watched college football playoffs before switching over to ABC's Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve with Ryan Seacrest. We were in bed by 1am and I was happy with that.

New Year's morning, it was chilly outside. I told Brooks we wouldn't be going for a walk outside anywhere because it was so cold outside and she would likely (and rightfully) be miserable. We then started organizing my sock drawer, but I stopped her and said "no, my sweater drawers, those are the much more daunting chores." We reorganized my sock drawer, dress sock drawer, and sweaters! We were able to make so much room, I even gained another drawer on my bedroom bureau for gym clothes. Bring on the new year and getting back into better shape! Brooks worked running GAP stores for over 15 years, and it comes to life when she reorganizes and declutters my place. She really is like Monica on Friends. She loves to organize! After working hard all day, filling up two full trash bags with socks and sweaters I'll be donating, I took Brooks out to dinner at Industry Kitchen & Bar in Sparta. I was craving steak, and they delivered on that big time! I enjoyed a delicious 14 oz NY Strip Rare, while Brooks got Mac & Cheese. Success!

Friday was a relatively quiet day at the office, many folks were still out of office on holiday break. This led to a nice, quiet, breezy day for me at work. I was able to get a ton accomplished, we will take that victory. Friday night Brooks and I cooked up one of our delicious frozen Cape Cod Cafe pizzas and it was absolutely delicious. It may have looked a little burnt at first, but this came out perfect. Brooks was neutral on what to watch and a little sleepy. I pulled up Amazon Prime and enjoyed A Bronx Tale with Chazz Palminteri and Robert DeNiro. It was fun hearing so much doo wop music! Talk about a fun throwback. It always brings me back to the time Chazz was my in studio guest on my radio show 7 years ago. When Chazz told me it was one of his favorite interviews he has ever done, that is a badge of honor for me I'll never forget. We had a great time enjoying the movie.

Saturday our big project was De-Christmasing at Brooks. We took down her tree and all indoor Christmas decorations. Her outside decorations we can accomplish later this week when it's warmer outside and the ground might be a little less frozen. Late Saturday afternoon we were able to meet up with besties Denise and Roy at Marley's Gotham Grill. Can you believe they have over 400 different wing sauces now? I enjoyed half of my order as Nuclear, and the other half BBQ. Delicious!

Saturday night I enjoyed watching the close NFL game of Seattle Seahawks against San Francisco 49ers.

Sunday I was able to make my way back up to Sussex County and it felt great to be home. I went to The Cottage for football Sunday and have fun before my Patriots 4pm game. One by one, several of my besties kept showing up. We had a great time for sure. I was very happy to enjoy the New England Patriots victory at home. Success! Now we're onto the Los Angeles Chargers next Sunday night. Just like we made the brilliant chant decades ago with our Boston Celtics - Los Angeles Lakers rivalry - BEAT LA, BEAT LA, BEAT LA!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my Epic Weekend In Pictures. Time to start planning next weekend!
