Drivers in Central New York continue to benefit from lower gas prices, with the average cost for a gallon of regular fuel now at $3.01. This marks a one-cent drop from the previous week and a seven-cent decline over the past month. According to AAA, the current state average in New York is slightly higher at $3.03 per gallon, while the national average stands at $2.81.
The trend of decreasing gas prices has been observed for several weeks, providing some relief to local drivers. The national average recently dipped below $3 for the first time in four years, reaching $2.95 last week, as reported by CNY Central.
While diesel prices are also on the decline, the New York average for diesel is currently $3.93, down one cent from last week. The national average for diesel is $3.69, showing a similar downward trend.
As the holiday season ends, drivers can expect these lower prices to continue, offering some financial respite in the new year.
