Nick Jonas is starting 2026 by opening up — musically and emotionally.

On January 1, the singer released his new solo track, “Gut Punch,” along with a lyric video, marking his first solo music of the new year. Jonas shared that the song’s message of self-reflection and self-compassion made it the perfect way to welcome 2026.

The introspective ballad confronts themes of self-criticism and emotional vulnerability, with lyrics centered on being one’s own harshest judge. Jonas has already been performing the track live during the Jonas Brothers’ Jonas20: Greetings From Your Hometown anniversary tour, where fans quickly learned the words and sang them back to him night after night.

Listeners first heard “Gut Punch” in mid-December during one of Jonas’ Sunday Best Brunch performances in Toronto, where he debuted the song alongside collaborator JP Saxe and his younger brother Franklin Jonas.

In discussing the song, Jonas explained that it reflects the internal pressure he feels as he navigates adulthood, marriage, and fatherhood — questioning whether he’s showing up as his best self while balancing life’s growing responsibilities. He said the track serves as a reminder to reconnect with the more carefree version of oneself.

“Gut Punch” will appear on Sunday Best, Jonas’ first full-length solo album in five years. The 11-song project explores his personal life as a husband and father and is set for release on February 6 via Republic Records. The album is described as deeply personal, pulling from Jonas’ early musical roots and offering some of his most candid storytelling to date.

Meanwhile, Jonas also closed out 2025 onstage with the Jonas Brothers, ringing in the New Year with a two-hour live performance at Florida’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, streamed on Samsung TV Plus.
