A travel advisory remains in place for Onondaga County, New York, as a lake-effect snowstorm continues to impact the area. The advisory will stay in effect until further notice, with additional snowfall expected. According to the National Weather Service, another foot or more of snow could fall in some locations before the weather system moves out.

The storm, which began Monday night, has already dropped significant snow across Central New York, with reports of 14 inches in Liverpool and 12 inches in Clay. Strong winds have combined with the snow to create hazardous conditions, including slippery roads and poor visibility. Wind gusts reached 52 mph in Syracuse on Monday and are expected to top out at 35 mph today.

Governor Kathy Hochul has urged New Yorkers to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel in areas affected by the storm. She advised residents to follow local forecasts and telecommute if possible. The heaviest snowfall is expected to remain over the Syracuse metro area, with snowfall rates potentially reaching two to three inches per hour.

Winter storm warnings and advisories remain in effect, and state emergency services are actively responding to the situation. For real-time travel information, residents can visit the New York State's official traffic and travel information source, 511NY.org.
