Orlando, FL - A cast member was injured during a performance of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando when a large prop boulder unexpectedly moved off course, prompting an immediate response from staff.

According to Disney officials, the incident occurred Tuesday as the show’s signature rolling boulder sequence was underway.

During the scene, the foam and rubber boulder, which weighs several hundred pounds, allegedly came loose from its designated path and began moving toward the audience seating area.

A cast member ran toward the prop in an attempt to stop it before it reached guests.

Video posted on social media shows the worker being knocked to the ground during the effort, while another cast member helped bring the boulder to a stop.

Disney confirmed that the employee was evaluated by medical personnel and is recovering.

The company did not release further details about the individual’s condition, citing privacy concerns. No guests were injured during the incident.

Following the malfunction, Disney canceled at least one scheduled performance and modified subsequent shows to remove the boulder sequence while the incident is reviewed.

The company stated that safety teams are examining what caused the prop to move improperly.

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular has been a long running attraction at the park since 1989 and features choreographed fight scenes, pyrotechnics, and practical effects inspired by the Indiana Jones film franchise.

While the show has operated for decades, it has experienced rare safety incidents in the past due to the nature of live stunt work.

Disney reiterated that guest and cast safety remains its top priority as the review continues.
