The gifts are opened, the holiday movies are over, and now it’s time for that annual question: What’s your New Year’s resolution?
Turns out, fewer people are making them this year. A new YouGov survey shows only about 3 in 10 Americans plan to set a resolution for 2026. Age plays a big role—adults under 45 are twice as likely to make resolutions compared to those over 45.
So what’s trending for the new year? Here are the top goals:
Top 10 Resolutions for 2026
- Exercise more (25%)
- Be happy (23%)
- Eat healthier (22%)
- Save more money (21%)
- Improve physical health (21%)
- Lose weight (17%)
- Improve mental health (16%)
- Learn something new (15%)
- Spend more time with family (15%)
- Pray more (15%)
Last year, saving money was the top resolution. This year, exercise takes the crown. And while a lot of people admit they don’t stick to their goals, nearly 40% say they’re “very likely” to keep them all year.
Looking back on 2025, most people say it was good for them personally, but not so great for the country. Almost half rated the year as bad or terrible for the U.S. overall.
