Miami, FL - A woman was arrested in Miami after police say she allegedly stole Christmas decorations from an apartment complex and was later found asleep inside the building.

According to Miami Police, the incident unfolded on Christmas Eve at an apartment complex in the Allapattah neighborhood.

Officers responded after property managers reviewed surveillance video showing a woman walking through the building and removing Christmas wreaths from apartment doors and common areas without permission.

The decorations reportedly belonged to multiple residents and had been placed outside their units for the holidays.

Investigators say the surveillance footage showed the suspect carrying several wreaths and other seasonal decorations through hallways and into common areas.

After reviewing the video, officers searched the property and eventually located the woman inside the building.

Police say she was found asleep in a chair in the lobby area and was still in possession of some of the allegedly stolen items at the time.

An arrest report states that officers questioned the woman and recovered the holiday decorations.

She was taken into custody without incident and transported to jail for booking.

Police indicated that the alleged thefts occurred within the same complex where the suspect was later discovered.

The Allapattah neighborhood, located just west of downtown Miami, is a densely populated residential area with many multi unit apartment buildings.

Residents reportedly told officers they were surprised by the incident, especially given the timing during the Christmas holiday.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the suspect’s motive.

The case remains under investigation, and prosecutors will determine whether formal charges will be filed based on the evidence, including surveillance video and recovered property.
