Plans for a new Hampton Inn in Catskill are moving forward after clearing the final administrative hurdle. The hotel, which will feature 92 rooms, conference rooms, breakout rooms, a pool, and a separate restaurant building, will be situated near the New York State Thruway exit in Greene County. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation approved the hotel's connection to the village's water and sewer systems, marking a significant step in the project's progress.
The Greene County Industrial Development Agency owns the land, which will be sold to Catskill Lodging LLC for approximately $1.7 million. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, with groundbreaking anticipated in April. According to the Daily Gazette, Greene County Administrator Shaun Groden confirmed that the necessary hookups for sanitary sewers were approved earlier this month.
The project aims to revitalize the area, which the county's industrial development agency has targeted for improvement for years. The final details of the sale and project are being worked on, with a focus on ensuring all technical aspects are addressed before construction begins.
The new hotel is expected to boost local tourism and provide additional amenities for visitors. While the exact opening date has not been set, the community eagerly anticipates the completion of this long-awaited project.
