Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies came to the rescue of a seal that was walking along Highway 101 near Newport.
Deputies used a rope with a loop around the seal's neck to guide it away from the highway.
Staff from the Oregon Coast Aquarium responded, gave the seal fluids and took it by boat to an island off Seal Rock where Stellar sea lions hang out. The pup was likely born last summer and was still "mom dependent." It got separated from mom and ended up three miles away. They say the pup was in decent condition considering it went three days without mom and stuck on land.
