Citrus County, FL - A Florida woman is facing homicide charges after investigators say she allegedly shot and killed two of her former husbands in separate counties within hours of each other.
Authorities identified the suspect as 51 year old Susan Erica Avalon of Citrus County.
According to law enforcement, the first shooting occurred Wednesday afternoon at a home in Bradenton.
Deputies with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where he later died. Investigators say the man identified his ex wife as a possible suspect before his death.
Detectives allege Avalon used a food delivery order to get the victim to open his front door before shooting him.
A teenage child was inside the home at the time but did not witness the shooting.
License plate readers later tracked a vehicle believed to be involved back to Avalon’s Citrus County residence.
When deputies contacted Avalon at her home, they reported observing her cleaning the vehicle with bleach.
During questioning, investigators say Avalon made a statement that raised concerns about another possible victim.
This prompted authorities to contact the Tampa Police Department to conduct a welfare check at a residence in Hillsborough County.
Officers in Tampa discovered a second man deceased inside a home with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police confirmed the man was also a former husband of Avalon.
The death is being investigated as a related homicide, though additional charges have not yet been announced.
Avalon was arrested and charged with second degree murder in the Bradenton case.
Prosecutors have indicated the case will be presented to a grand jury, and additional charges are possible as investigations continue across jurisdictions.
She remains in custody without bond.
