The Carolina Panthers (8-7) defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-8) 23-20 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Panthers have taken over first place in the NFC South with two weeks to go in the regular season.
Bryce Young threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Panthers to the win. Baker Mayfield went 18-of-26 with 145 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the loss - his interception came with 42 seconds to go that clinched the game for Carolina.
The Buccaneers led 17-13 midway through the third quarter after Sean Tucker ran in a one-yard touchdown, but the Panthers answered late in the third thanks to Ja'Tavion Sanders grabbing a 6-yard touchdown from Bryce Young to make it 20-17. The Bucs tied the game early in the fourth quarter thanks to a 50-yard field goal from Chase McLaughlin, but Ryan Fitzgerald hit a 48-yard field goal with 2:20 to go that would prove to be the game-winner.
