These days, we’re trying to save money any way we can, and it turns out, choosing certain food delivery services over others could help cut costs. Research from YouGov shows that more than a quarter of Americans (28.2%) use food delivery apps at least once a week, and that jumps to 40% for millennials and Gen Z. So, saving on those could have a big impact on the budget.
NetCredit did a new study to find out which of the most popular food delivery apps - DoorDash, Grubhub or Uber Eats - is most affordable.
- They compared the price of popular orders from Subway, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, KFC, Popeyes, Burger King, and Taco Bell on each delivery app in 100 of the biggest cities across the country.
- Then they crunched the numbers, comparing prices for each item to figure out which service is cheapest.
So, which one will save you the most on your next dinner order?
- It turns out, Grubhub is the most affordable in 24 states, including New York, Florida and Pennsylvania.
- In New York City, Grubhub is around 8% to 12% cheaper than DoorDash and Uber Eats overall.
- DoorDash is the cheapest service in 13 states, including California and Texas. It’s also the most affordable in major metros like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.
- There are two California cities where DoorDash isn’t cheapest, San Jose, where Uber Eats is least expensive, and San Diego, where Grubhub is.
- Uber Eats is also the cheapest service in 13 states, including Nevada and Minnesota.
