Times Square is gearing up for the New Year as the 2026 numerals arrive today in New York City. The numerals will be temporarily displayed at Duffy Square before being installed atop One Times Square, where they will light up alongside the iconic ball drop on New Year's Eve.
The numerals will be on display from December 18 to December 22, allowing visitors to view them up close before they are elevated for the big night. According to Times Square NYC, the public can also participate in the Confetti Wishing Wall, where they can write their wishes on confetti that will be released at midnight on New Year's Eve.
The New Year's Eve ball, which has evolved significantly since its first wooden version in 1907, now features over 5,200 Waterford crystals. This year's ball has been reimagined, offering a dazzling spectacle for attendees. Joonbug reports that exclusive viewing parties, such as the one at Margaritaville’s Landshark terrace lounge, provide a premium experience with a live DJ, open bar, and a direct view of the ball drop.
The Times Square event is a major attraction, drawing visitors from around the world to witness the transition into the new year. Tickets for various experiences range from $28 to $128, depending on the package. As the city prepares for the festivities, the NYPD has set up security checkpoints to ensure safety during the celebrations.
