(Iowa) -- A new survey finds a surprising number of Americans who host holiday parties aren't above asking guests to chip in a few dollars.
Sports betting website Hard Rock Bet surveyed 2,000 people across the country and found that roughly a third of Americans hosting a holiday gathering say they ask their guests to pitch in to cover costs. The survey finds that Iowans who ask for guests to pay up to split the cost of a holiday party ask on average for $21.25. That's the 12th highest amount among all 50 states.
Montana tops the list, with holiday party hosts who ask guests to chip in asking for $26.25.
