GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- In a recent verdict, a jury acquitted Ronald Armour of charges related to a 2024 murder case in Grand Rapids. Armour, 38, was accused of killing 35-year-old Jeremy Parnell during a shooting incident on June 29, 2024. The shooting took place near Ardmore Street and Thelma Avenue on the southeast side of Grand Rapids.
The incident occurred during a birthday party where a party bus had been rented. Shots were fired, causing chaos as attendees scattered. Parnell was later found in his car with a gunshot wound to his chest and was transported to a hospital, where he died. Another individual was also injured but survived.
During the investigation, witnesses provided conflicting accounts of the events. One witness identified Armour as the shooter, claiming she saw him argue with Parnell before the shooting. However, Armour's brother testified that he heard gunshots and saw Armour in a fight, alleging that Parnell was armed and had hit Armour with a gun. Armour denied having a gun or shooting anyone, stating he only defended himself with his arms.
After months of investigation, Armour was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. However, on Wednesday (December 17), the jury found him not guilty, concluding the high-profile case.
