The former members of Jane’s Addiction say they have officially closed the door on last year’s highly publicized fallout, choosing to resolve their disputes privately and move forward separately.
The band’s reunion tour collapsed in September 2024 after an explosive onstage incident in Boston, where frontman Perry Farrell confronted guitarist Dave Navarro during a performance. The moment marked the end of the tour and led to lawsuits between Farrell and bandmates Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins.
In a joint statement, Navarro, Avery, and Perkins acknowledged missteps in how the situation was handled after the Boston show. “After that show, without notice to Perry, we unilaterally determined it would be best to not continue the tour,” they said, adding that they made “inaccurate statements about Perry’s mental health which we regret.”
The trio said the band came together one final time to settle the matter privately. “We have come together one last time to resolve our differences,” they explained, emphasizing that they want Jane’s Addiction to be remembered for “the work the four of us created together” rather than the conflict that followed.
They also confirmed there is no future collaboration planned, writing, “We now look forward to the future as we embark on our separate musical and creative endeavors,” while thanking fans for decades of support.
Farrell issued a separate apology, taking responsibility for his behavior during the Boston performance. “I didn’t handle myself the way I should have,” he said. “I apologize to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show.”
Reflecting on the band’s legacy, Farrell added, “Jane’s Addiction has been at the center of my life for decades. The band, the songs, the patrons and the impact that we’ve had on music and culture mean more to me than any words I could ever possibly write down.”
He concluded by addressing fans directly: “My aim has always been to give our audience the best possible show. In Boston, we fell short of that, and I’m truly sorry to everyone who was impacted.”
Both sides stressed that while their time together has ended, the music — and the bond with fans — remains. “Jane’s Addiction will forever live in our hearts,” the band said. “You, the fans, are our lifeblood.”
