(Iowa City, IA) -- A former University of Iowa employee accused of diverting nearly a million dollars in university-paid jobs to his own shop business will serve three years probation.

Brian Busch pleaded guilty to theft and fraudulent practice.

According to the plea agreement, he'll avoid up to ten years in prison for both charges, but he'll have to pay more than 173-thousand dollars in restitution to the school.
