New York City Mayor Eric Adams delivered a farewell speech on Tuesday, reflecting on his tenure as he prepares to leave office at the end of the month. During the event at City Hall, Adams highlighted both the achievements and challenges of his administration, including his indictment, which was later dismissed by President Trump's Department of Justice. Adams expressed pride in his accomplishments, such as reducing crime rates, implementing a citywide housing rezoning plan, and addressing the migrant crisis.

Adams, the city's second Black mayor, emphasized that his legacy should be remembered for more than the controversies, stating, "We cannot control the price of bread, but darn it, we put bread back in the pockets of working-class people." He and his team marked the occasion by creating a time capsule filled with memorabilia, including a migrant ID card and a piece of an NYPD drone, which they buried outside City Hall.

While Adams has not yet disclosed his future plans, he indicated he might pursue a private sector job and is currently on a personal trip to Mexico. His successor, democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani, will be sworn in as mayor on January 1.
