(Iowa) -- An Iowa-based credit union will no longer be giving out pennies. GreenState Credit Union announced that pennies can now only be deposited, not withdrawn. Instead, cash transactions will be rounded down to the nearest five or ten cents, and any remaining amount will be deposited into members’ accounts.
The change comes as pennies are no longer being produced by the U.S. Mint.
