What to Do About Evil

The murders of Hollywood icon Rob Reiner and his wife were shocking news.

The deadly attack at a Jewish celebration in Australia was gut wrenching.

The mass shootings at Brown University most recently and at a child’s birthday party here in California were disturbing.

And in each of these cases, and others like them or similar to them, what led to them was varied. From mental health, to bad relationships, to terrorism, to revenge, to political, to race and hatred in one form or another.

Taken together all of these tragic incidents, and others like them this year and in recent years at locations all over the country, may make it seem as if evil is rampant and out of control.

Some suggest that acts of evil may seem to be growing, but that the number of these incidents is very small compared to the population.

Maybe so, but they still seem to happen a lot.

And with evil having been around since pretty much the beginning of mankind, it is not going away.

But right now, during this time of the year, this month, with holidays that are about peace and good will, it’s a good time to celebrate and promote that.
