The New York City Police Department has released its 2026 Canine and Friends calendar, showcasing the vital work of its K-9 units and mounted officers. The calendar, which runs from January 2026 to January 2027, features 13 pages of NYPD's four-legged partners in action, alongside their human handlers. It is available for purchase at $35, with all proceeds benefiting Crime Stoppers and other police charities.
Taylor Kahn, the director of development for the New York City Police Foundation, emphasized the calendar's role in highlighting "the hardworking men and women of the NYPD and their four-legged partners who are around the city keeping us safe." The foundation, a nonprofit organization, uses private funds to support NYPD initiatives and community programs.
This year's calendar includes nearly 20 dogs, many named in honor of fallen officers, and three horses. According to the New York Post, the cover features K-9s Chase, Taso, Rett, and Cato at Grand Central Station. March highlights Detective Katrina Narvaez with her K-9 Freddy, named after her father, Lt. Federico Narvaez, who was killed in the line of duty.
The calendar is the tenth edition of the NYPD K-9 and Friends series and continues to celebrate the bond between officers and their animal partners. It can be purchased through the New York City Police Foundation's website, with contributions being tax-deductible.
