Fort Lauderdale, FL - A missed flight at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport allegedly led to a bomb threat investigation Monday evening, resulting in the arrest of a 37 year old man.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies identified the suspect as Stanislav Zubko, a Nevada resident who was born in Ukraine.

Authorities say the incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. when Zubko allegedly told airport personnel that he had a bomb after realizing he had missed his scheduled flight.

The statement prompted an immediate response from law enforcement, who treated the comment as a potential security threat.

According to Zubko’s arrest report and statements made in bond court, investigators later determined that no explosive device was present.

Prosecutors told the court that Zubko allegedly admitted he was joking when he made the remark, though officials emphasized that any mention of a bomb at an airport is taken seriously under Florida law.

Ryan Gorman and Dana McKay cover this story and more on The Ryan Gorman Show:

Zubko was taken into custody at the airport and transported to the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale.

He remained in custody overnight before appearing in bond court Tuesday morning at approximately 11:10 a.m.

Court records show Zubko was charged with making a false report of a bomb or explosive, a second degree felony.

During the hearing, a judge set his bond at $10,000 and imposed additional conditions, including an order barring him from returning to Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.

The court also prohibited him from possessing firearms or ammunition while the case is pending.

Airport operations were not permanently disrupted, and authorities confirmed no explosives were found.

The case remains under investigation as Zubko awaits further legal proceedings.
